The Hottest Day

The day was so fucking hot that dogs baked under the shade of cars and porches. The smart ones simply shed their fur in one whole piece, leaving it on the ground like it was nothing more than a banana peel. The scorched town soon became a zoo of naked dogs with bad sunburns, day and night, searching for their elegant coats.

    I really like the line about the banana peel, I could almost picture that. It’s odd, though, thinking about the story, have there been any references to animals? I assume that they do exist in Medallion.
